Special Ponies

Lovely weekend managed to ride Iz on saturday and Sunday we just did a short warm up round the building and 10-15mins in the school with just short bursts of trot and then a walk up the track to cool off. She has also been having 20-30 mins on the walker in the mornings just to keep the tummy down. Also Izzy and Jack have both been selected for the Winergy feed trial.............such special ponies!

At last

The doctor has referred me to specialist for my knee. No doubt it will be weeks before I get an appointment but at least it is a start :)

Really hope it improves a bit so I can do the Netherwood Dressage :(

I wonder if they will do a special section in the walk and trot for me if I go one legged with no stirrups! lol

Fed up.....

....with my knee :(

I can't do anything, riding in walk only is agony, going to the toilet is agony! I couldn't even try some flip flops on in a shop yesterday. It's been 3 and half weeks now since I did it and the pain is worse.

I'm just not really happy with the doctors response of "oh it will heal eventually, these things take time" :(

Proper FED UP!

Long time, no blog!

Well it's been a while and not too much to report.

Izzy is cracking on with her walk work (weather permitting) and the vet is pleased with her progress, we are to increase the walk over the next two weeks and then he wants to review her again. I am hoping she will be ready for the Netherwood dressage at the beginning of September if my knee holds out.

I had a bit of an accident on a bouncy castle in the rain and slipped and pulled two ligaments in my knee...OUCHY! If it doesn't feel any better in 3 weeks I will have to be referred for an MRI :(

Izzy is pleased to be out in the field now although has developed foot rot (thrush) and it is absolutely gross I've never smelt anything quite so sick. So she is having salt water foot scrubs twice a day and purple spray on, it seems to be a little better. Blacksmith is coming saturday so will get him to have a good dig about!

Little Jack has bone spavin in both hock so he has just started having steroid treatment for that so fingers crossed that it works!

I rode!

Well got to the yard gave Izzy a quick groom and got my tack out. Izzy looked pretty chilled whilst I put her bandages on and made her matchy matchy (went for Lemon thought it would cheer up the miserable day!) and tacked her up. She had a minor tizzy at the badages and did a chicken impression but apart from that was as good as gold.

Went out to mountain block armed with neck strap, lead rope and volunteers, one holding her and one to do stirrups. I hopped on and she was fine, we then got led round the yard for one lap and then we were left to our own devices and she was fine an absolute star.

Although quite stiff at first she felt sooo much sounder than before which is great. I can't believe how much muscle she's lost though, I didn't think she had but once I got up on top it was really obvious and her neck was all flabby :( Still 11 weeks is quite a long time not doing anything especially if your stuck in a stable for all of it.

I think I will get the massagers on her tomorrow to start stimulating her muscles and also the magno rug :)

Yay!

Izzy had the vet last night and it was great news she is much improved. She can start doing half an hour walk three times a week on hard ground, the vet wants her to do this in an outline so she stretches her back and uses her hind quarters correctly, he really wants her striding out. She can also start going out on Saturday for a couple of hours a day but only if the ground is bone dry so she doesn't slip. I need to report back to the vet in two weeks, so fingers crossed she keeps healing quickly.

Last night I took Izzy for a 20 minute walk in hand to get her used to the route I was going to ride her and she was as good as gold....I just know she is saving it up for tonight :S

cake,cake,cake,cake......I can hear the chanting already!

Izzy wizzy update

Not really much to report really atm. Izzy has finished her cartrophen jabs and has a check up with the vet tomorrow. Those jabs are amazing and I am hoping for some positive news and plans towards a work programme tomorrow (even if it is just walking in hand!) and physio therapy.

She is being a complete demon and has even taken to rearing randomly, she made it a whole 2ft off the ground yesterday......naughty Iz wizz!

I have had a fab weekend and have had a ride on some lovely Netherwood ponies, people are so generous :0)

The house move is coming along slowly and we about half way to being moved in now.....I just wish the bed would hurry up and arrive as I don't fancy sleeping on an airbed!

Bye bye for now...will report after vet visit.

All change

Seen as it seemed everyone was on the move, I thought I would follow suit. I am not very good at dealing with change so lets see how it goes, may need some help!

No real plans for the weekend, am going to try and relax as things are going to start to get stressfull next week as were moving house.

Iz has her 3rd Cartrophen jab on Monday and the vet will decide if he thinks she needs more.

Have a fab weekend everyone.
